Yesterday, Bernt bought the new Xbox 360 game "Viva Piñata". He'd downloaded a demo a few weeks ago, and it looked so cute. The last week there's been some commercials on Norwegian telly as well, which looked even better. So yesterday he bought it, and we're both hooked...
As Bernt had to prepare some course material today, I've created a garden by myself, and stayed in it for nearly 6 hours. When creating a new garden, I got all the money and resources that Bernt had managed to get yesterday, but an empty garden. Nice, I didn't have to do all the basic things, just go straight to the fun part.
So what do you do? I had to make the garden livable, then some creatures moved in. Then I got some seeds to make plants grow. After I'd planted a few hazel trees, a squirrel moved in. A few birds showed up. A mouse or two. And then some serpents. And this is where it gets a bit interesting. You want the creatures to stay. They all have some requirements to do that. Most of them are herbivores, and just needs to have hazelnuts, flowers, carrots and other things you can grow. But the serpents, they want mice. So do you kick the serpents out, or do you sacrifice a mouse or two? The same with foxes. They need rabbits. Fortunately, they only need one mouse or rabbit, so it's not as if you need to feed them to make them stay. So well, I sacrificed a few mice and rabbits, and now I have both serpents, foxes, mice and rabbits in my garden.
And then there's mating. When you have to creatures, and have given them the food they want and a little house, they get little hearts over their heads, which means they're ready for some lurve. :) When two of the same specie is in love-mode, you make them meet, and then they mate, and you play a little game, and after some kinky dancing, you get an egg. This will hatch and produce a new mouse, fox or whatever creature you set up for. There might be some explaining to do for some parents, but hey! The kids need to be told sooner or later anyway, and this is probably an okay way to bring the subject up.
